India’s hyper-competitive e-commerce sector entered a new phase in 2018 with the world’s largest retailer, Walmart, making an entry into India with the acquisition of a 77% stake of Flipkart for approximately US$16 billion. The deal, dubbed the biggest e-commerce M&A in the world to date, has been sweeping up numerous awards in legal/business publications.

Dentons Rodyk acted as Singapore counsel to Flipkart in their transaction and completion of the deal with Walmart. The Dentons Rodyk team advising Flipkart was led by Partner Ray Chiang along with Deputy Managing Partner Gerald Singham, and Senior Associate Nicole Teo.
