To commemorate Dentons Rodyk’s 160th anniversary as the first and oldest law firm in Singapore, we are organising a virtual run from 1 to 31 March 2021 and, in conjunction, are aiming to raise at least S$160,000 for the SAWL Scholarship Fund.
The Fund seeks to reduce social disparities brought on by educational imbalance and (the lack of) access to education for students with physical or mental disabilities who have displayed scholastic aptitude. The Fund continues to be well received by the community as there are almost no other scholarships available for these students which, unlike bursaries, also celebrates their academic achievements.
Gerald Singham, Global Vice Chair and ASEAN CEO said, “As Singapore’s first law firm, whose history is closely shared with the nation, Dentons Rodyk is taking this opportunity, as we celebrate our 160th anniversary, to give back to the community by assisting to raise funds for the SAWL Scholarship Fund. We hope through this gesture, the Fund’s beneficiaries will be encouraged to do their best in their studies despite their disabilities.”
Quote from SAWL Scholarship Fund – “We are very grateful to Dentons Rodyk for being tremendously supportive of the SAWL Scholarship Fund – they had provided their time and financial support in producing our SAWL Scholarship Fund promotional video, “Room at the Table” in 2020 and now they have further committed to helping us raise funds for 2021 through their virtual run. Should the fundraising drive reach its target of S$160,000, we would have met our target for 2021.”

The Singapore Association of Women Lawyers (SAWL) set up the SAWL Scholarship Fund in December 1987, with the goal of furthering the educational needs of needy students with physical disabilities, special needs, Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or intellectual disability who have displayed scholastic aptitude. Since inception, more than 900 students have benefited from over $900,000 of scholarships disbursed to Secondary Schools, Institute of Technical Education, Junior Colleges and Tertiary institutions. The Fund is a registered Charity in Singapore and has an Institution of Public Character status (IPC status).
